Report for Day 11 YNP Winter Study:

Well, at least it is snowing out. Its rather warm, probably right around the freezing point. Currently, there are two to three inches of new snow and maybe more on the way.

For the second day in a row, the Druids have been out of contact. Rob and I did not get so much as a peep and due to the weather there wasn't a flight either. So... what can I say? Maybe they are up the Lamar or possibly on the Mirror Platuea, but honestly, I don't know.

Once it became obvious that the Druids were out of sight, we went to the Hellroaring Creek area and watched for the Rose Creek wolves with Dan and Shaney (the Rose crew). We saw 14 wolves, two gray and twelve black, crossing the Hellroaring Slope single file (for the most part). They were stretched out nearly a half a kilometer. Even from two and a half miles away the wolves were easily identifiable as such, their tails sticking out straight behind them as a flag would flap in a strong breeze. The Rose Creek pack is impressive in size; the word "pack" doesn't even begin to describe it - maybe "herd" or "armada" would be more apt.

Anyhow, we'll have to wait for the morning light to find the Druids. Any guesses as to their location? I'm hoping that they will be at thier rendevouz site, but my guess is that they will still be out of sight. We'll see!
