Soda Butte disperser located on Northern Range with Rose Creek female.
(1-27-99) (Update 2-3-99)
While the rest of his pack is rolling in clover many miles to south on the National Elk Refuge near Jackson, Wyoming, Soda Butte Pack yearling 123M has been located west of the Lamar Valley in company with 2 1/2 year old 78F from the Rose Creek Pack. He is a gray wolf and she black.
123M did not follow the other six members of his pack to Jackson Hole. He was last located by Doug Smith in deep snow near the south boundary of Yellowstone National Park.
The Soda Butte members in Jackson Hole are: alpha female no. 14F, 43M, 44F, 124, 125, and 126. His sister, 24F is also near Jackson Hole paired with Washakie yearling 133M -- "the Teton Duo" for the time being.
Nathan Varley has more recent and detailed information on 123M's search for a mate.
