 Bear Valley Creek

Bear Valley Creek and Marsh Creek are the headwaters of the Middle Fork of the Salmon River. Bear Valley Creek, with its meadowy and broad riparian zone, has long been a spot frequented by Idaho wolves, both today and before the extirpation of wolves in the early 20th century.

A number of lone wolves, pairs, and packs have inhabited this general area since mid-1995 -- Bear Valley Creek, Elk Creek, Marsh Creek and Capehorn Creek. Best of all livestock in the area got the boot in 2002. Already the increase in the number of elk is amazing.
